Clancy Rowe

Clancy Rowe EDIT

From humble beginnings in a church hall without mirrors or Barres, Clancy began dancing at the age of 5 under the tuition of Debbie Mann and Robyn Kirkland in Sydney and graduated from the National Theatre Ballet School in Melbourne in 1989 with The Jacqueline de Cardi Award for the Most Promising Dancer. Clancy began her career later that year with the Saarbruecken State Ballet Company in Germany and was promoted to the rank of Soloist after only two seasons.
Always keen to explore her world, Clancy went on to join the cast of The Phantom of the Opera in Hamburg, Germany, dancing in the Corps de Ballet and singing in the role of Meg Giry for two years and then went on a 6 month tour of Germany as a contemporary dancer with the Rainbow Dance Theatre in Koblenz.  After a highly diverse career Clancy’s penchant for classical ballet came to the fore and in 1996 Clancy joined the Norwegian National Ballet Company. With the Norwegian National Ballet Clancy danced soloist roles in many major classical and contemporary works including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker Suite, A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream, Stamping Ground and Four Last Songs. Shortly before retiring from the stage in 1999, Clancy was nominated for the Young Australian of the Year Award for the Arts.
After leaving full time dance Clancy continued to perform intermittently in the United States of America and began teaching classical ballet while gaining an Honours Degree in Psychology. Clancy continues to share her love of dance by teaching ballet whilst working as a psychologist in the areas of education, career and personal counselling. Clancy regularly combines her two passions by imparting performance psychology skills through lectures and workshops at universities, dance schools and the New South Wales Institute of Sport for dancers, athletes and others striving to reach their full potential.
