Born in Ballarat, Australia, Andrea began her ballet training at the Carole Oliver School of Ballet in the Cecchetti method and later completed her dance training at the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne. Her first professional engagement was as a member of the Dancer’s Company under the auspices of the Australian Ballet. Tours included performances in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Andrea then went on to dance with the Victorian State Opera and Opera Australia before travelling to Europe. After working with London Ballet Theatre in the UK, she joined Stadtheater Trier in Germany and then the Saarlandisches Staatstheater Saarbrücken also in Germany. In 1999 Andrea returned to Australia to audition for Graeme Murphy.
She joined Sydney Dance Company in 2000 dancing in works from Graeme Murphy, Stephen Petronio, Narelle Benjamin and others. During this time Andrea travelled extensively performing in many international dance festivals as well as collaborating with the Shanghai Dance Company for a season in Shanghai.
In August 2006, Andrea joined the State Theatre of Tyrol in Innsbruck, Austria under the direction of Birgit Scherzer. While dancing she completed a bachelor degree with majors in German and Communications and returned to Australia in August 2009 where she began teaching in Victoria. She was invited to adjudicate the Auckland New Caledonian Dance Festival in New Zealand that year.
In January 2010 Andrea returned to Sydney Dance Company as a teacher for both the company and open classes. She has since taught at numerous dance schools in Sydney and Victoria including the Victorian College of the Arts, Alegria, All Starz Performing Arts, Bronte Ballet School & The National College of Dance. She has adjudicated both the City of Sydney Eisteddfod and the PACANZ classical award in New Zealand as well as the NSW Cecchetti Medal Awards and RAD Bursary.
In 2011 and 2012 she worked with the dancers from the ABC’s Dance Academy and has taught workshops for adults at Sydney Ballet Intensive. Andrea has also completed her Diploma in Remedial Massage for which she was awarded a TAFE industry award for Community and Health Services and an academic excellence award.
