First Steps Barre. If you are new to ballet this is the class and level for you. You will methodically learn the positions of the feet and arms, how to coordinate and combining them while being introduced to the vocabulary of ballet terms such as Plié, Tendu and Dégagé.  More experienced students will benefit from this class as they reinforce the very first steps of ballet class at the barre. Developing students musicality and counting are an important part of First Steps. The class focuses on barre work and an introduction to basic centre positions.
Students are encouraged to take 2 First Steps classes a week and build up to an additional class at the level above (absolute beginner class) as they become more confident.
 Sat: 9.30-10.30am

First Steps Centre is also for students new to ballet with the focus on the basics in the centre (away from the barre).
Students are encourage to combine First Steps classes with First Steps Centre classes for a strong foundation in ballet technique.
 Wed: 7-8pm

Please note: Students are encouraged to attend 2 to 3 classical classes at Absolute Beginner level or above to support attending Pointe classes.

First Steps Pointe  is for students who have never been on pointe or who are returning to pointe work. This class will focus on the basics of using the foot correctly to develop a smooth transition to full pointe.  This level sits below Absolute Beginner Pointe class. Students of all levels at or above
Absolute Beginner are welcome to take this class to ensure correct footwork and placement for more advanced pointe.
