Damian commenced his training in Classical Ballet in Canberra where he was accepted as a member of the Canberra Youth Ballet Company. During his early teens with the Youth Ballet Company he performed Soloist roles in productions including ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Giselle’, ‘La Sylphide’, ‘Coppelia’, ‘Cinderella’, ‘La Vivienda’ and the role of ‘The Moor’ in Michel Fokine’s’ ‘Petrushka’. He performed alongside Guest Artists Marilyn Jones OBE (former Principal Artist and Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet), Stanton Welch (former Soloist of The Australian Ballet), Lois Strike (former Principal of the Royal Ballet & Australian Ballet) , Christine Keith (former Soloist Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet) and members of the Australian Opera Ballet.
In 1995 he was cast in the award winning National Tour of the Victoria State Opera/International Management Group production of West Side Story with Marina Prior, Caroline O’Connor and Sharon Millerchip before performing in the Australian/New Zealand production of ‘Me & My Girl’ in Auckland. in 2001 Damian performed Soloist roles in the contemporary ballet production of ‘Tempo’ in Portugal with a Pas de Deux choreographed on Damian for the newest production in 2002. Extending his artistic development further he secured work as a commercial dancer on TV shows such as ‘The Midday Show’ and dancing for artist ranging from Kylie Minogue to Todd McKenney to Thelma Houston to Dame Edna Everage! Continuing his travels working in Singapore, Sweden and America he finally moved back to Paris to work at the Moulin Rouge. Damian progressed through all the Soloist roles eventually becoming one of the Can-Can Soloist, a role performed by very few dancers in the world. In 2008 retiring from professional dance after returning to Australia, Damian achieved his Diploma in Business and Cert IV in training and assessment as well as Coaching for Higher Performance and completing a Voiceover course at AFTARS before working as an actor for a short time. He continues to developed his knowledge of business and performance through a career spanning many styles, countries and facets of the Arts and is always devising new initiatives to broaden the reach of classical ballet and its life changing impact for talented students and adult ballet.
